Kenya passports are now available for 10 years thereby phasing out renewal after 5 years W.E.F. 1st January 2007.
However, passports already in circulation with 5 years validity shall be renewed as they fall due.
If at any time a passport contains no further space for visas, a new passport must be obtained.

Replacement of passport after ten (10) years
Requirements
- Current original passport.
- Passport application form PP1 (PP2 for
children 0-16 years) duly filled and signed
by the applicant - Three (3) passport size photographs.
N.B: Filled up passports will be treated similarly
as replacement after 10 years
Passport for a child 0-16 years
Children are no longer endorsed in their parents'
passports, but must apply for their own passports
Requirements
- Passport application form PP2 duly filled and
signed by the child/parent - Three (3 passport size photographs.
- Copy of child's Foreign Birth Certificate
(with English translation) or Kenyan Birth Certificate (both sides) - Copy of parents passports
- Page of previous endorsement in parents' passport
- Copy of parents' marriage certificate
- Letter from the parent
Renewal of Passports after five (5) years
Requirements
- Application form PP3 duly filled and signed by the applicant
- Passport to be endorsed for renewal
Replacement of Lost Passport Requirements
- Photocopy of passport if any.
- Police abstract with English translation.
- Affidavit of support.
- Self-explanatory letter concerning the loss.
- Two (2) application forms PP1 (PP2 for children 0-16 years) duly filled and signed by the applicant.
- Full names of parents, for indexing purposes
- Full names as used in the previous passport.
- Passport number.
- Immigration Reference Number (R-No.).
- Copy of both sides birth certificate and Kenyan ID card
- Three (3) passport size photographs.
Replacement of Mutilated Passport Requirements
- Mutilated passport.
- Passport application form PP1 (PP2 for children 0-16 years) duly filled and signed by the applicant.
- Three (3) passport size photographs.
- An affidavit detailing the circumstances under which the mutilation occurred
- Self-explanatory letter concerning the circumstances that led to the mutilation.
Note
- Replacement of Kenyan passports takes 6-8 weeks because the applications are forwarded to the Immigration Office in Nairobi.
- Additional documentary proof of Kenya citizenship may be required if necessary.
