The Embassy of the Republic of Kenya in Khartoum, Sudan was opened on 7th September 1982 when the first Ambassador arrived in Khartoum to take up post. Prior to this, Kenya's Ambassador to Ethiopia and the then Organisation for African Unity (OAU) was accredited to Khartoum. As a matter of fact, Sudan had diplomatic representation in Nairobi by 1969.
The opening of the Embassy, though long overdue was intended to promote, protect and articulate Kenya's National interest and image in the Sudan, as well as improve bilateral relations.

Being a populous neigbour, Sudan has the potential of being one of Kenya's biggest trading partners ahead of Uganda.
The Mission also hopes to market Kenya as the most attractive tourist destination to tap the infux of international workers and the petro dollar - businessmen who spend holidays in the Middle East.
Vision: Kenya Embassy Khartoum will be identified as a model Diplomatic Mission in pursuit of Kenya's national interest.
